In modern times it seems like aging has become something to resent; something we have been conditioned to dread and something many seem to be working tirelessly against. This has led yoga and health to become synonymous with youth and physical appearance instead of mental wellbeing and physical ability.

To resist the the natural aging process, and submit ourselves to perfectionist standards of beauty brings about self-criticisms that causes us to suffer through an ongoing struggle within ourselves.

So why are we submitting ourselves to that?

How has it become easier for our minds to obsess upon self-designated flaws than to celebrate the immeasurable amount of things that makes us unique and incredible?

I look at men and women my age and often younger, friends or acquaintances from long ago, who are changing themselves so much I can barely recognize them.

And for what?

We are NOT too old…

We are NOT irrelevant…

We are NOT too late…

We are NOT past our prime…

Because there isn’t such a thing.

I believe that as we get older, we reach new levels of power, wisdom, grace, and confidence that will only lead us to growth, if and when we decide it to be so.
